How to buy USDT on TON: with a Russian or a foreign card (2026)
Catallaxy accepts USDT only on TON — the official Tether jetton, not “USDT in general.” Buying “just USDT” is not enough: TRC-20, ERC-20 or BEP-20 will not land in a TON wallet and you will not be able to pay. Below is how to fund the right network with a regular card.
Official Tether contract on TON (the same one Catallaxy uses): EQCxE6mUtQJKFnGfaROTKOt1lZbDiiX1kCixRv7Nw2Id_sDs. Source: Tether, Supported Protocols.
⚠️ Wallet first, not an exchange. Custodial bots @wallet, @CryptoBot and @send are convenient but known for freezing accounts with the balance inside. For purchases use your own wallet — which to choose. In Tonkeeper the same address holds GRAM (ex TON) and the USDT jetton. The separate “USDT TRC-20” switch is another network and another address — do not paste that here.
You also need a little GRAM on that address: a TON jetton transfer pays gas in the native coin. With zero GRAM, USDT will not leave the wallet. How to buy GRAM with a card: separate guide.
The one thing that matters: the network
USDT exists on many chains at once. Same ticker, different tokens.
| You pick | It arrives on | Works on Catallaxy |
|---|---|---|
| Tether TON / USDT (TON) / USD₮ jetton | TON wallet (UQ… / EQ…) | Yes |
| Tether TRC-20 | Tron (T…) | No |
| Tether ERC-20, BEP-20, Solana, Polygon | Ethereum / BSC / Solana / Polygon | No |
On BestChange the row is Tether TON (USDT) — not “Tether TRC20.” On an exchange, withdraw via TON, not Tron. The destination is your Tonkeeper / MyTonWallet address — the same one you use for GRAM. No memo/tag on TON.
If you already bought TRC-20: in Tonkeeper that is a separate wallet. Swap to USDT TON via the in-app exchangers. Simpler to buy Tether TON in the first place.
Route 1. Russian card
A direct card on-ramp from Russia almost never works: foreign services dropped Russian Visa/Mastercard, and Mercuryo lists the Russian Federation as unavailable. What remains is exchangers and P2P.
Exchangers via BestChange (no exchange account)
BestChange is an exchanger monitor, not an exchanger. Live directions into Tether TON:
Pick a venue with reserve above your amount, a review history, and no fresh claims. Rate, minimums, and “may request documents / card check” are in the BestChange row — read them. Some run in manual mode: not instant. The spread is usually worse than on an exchange.
In the order, paste your TON wallet address, not an exchange deposit and not TRC-20.
P2P on exchanges
P2P means buying from a person while the exchange escrows the crypto until you send rubles (card/SBP). Then withdraw USDT on the TON network to your wallet.
Which venues and banks are live — check the UI on the day you trade, not an old guide. Bybit does offer USDT withdrawal on TON; the fee and minimum are on the withdraw form, so they are not copied here. RUB P2P on a given exchange appears and disappears (OKX has dropped the ruble in some years). If there are no RUB ads for your bank, this route is closed for you today — use BestChange.
KYC on exchanges is almost always required. Without it, limits are tiny or P2P is off.
⚠️ 115-FZ and your card
Banks freeze “suspicious” transfers. P2P and person-to-person payments are the risky zone, sometimes already at tens of thousands of rubles.
- Do not put “crypto”, “USDT”, “exchange” in the payment comment.
- Do not fire a burst of transfers from your salary card.
- Keep a separate card for this.
- Save trade history if the bank asks where the money came from.
Route 2. Foreign card
If you are not in Russia and the card is not from a Russian bank:
- Mercuryo — the widget lists USDT on Ton. Availability depends on country, card and KYC. It is not available to RF residents (see the country list above).
- BestChange exchangers: Bank card USD → Tether TON is live; fewer venues than the ruble routes, higher spread and minimums.
- Exchanges with a non-RU card on-ramp — after the buy, still withdraw on TON.
MoonPay sells USDT, but their network list is Ethereum, Solana, BSC, Polygon, Tron. No TON. That is not a short path to Catallaxy.
There is no mainstream fully no-KYC card on-ramp.
If you already have USDT on the wrong chain
- On an exchange: withdraw → USDT → network TON → Tonkeeper address.
- Already in a TRC-20 wallet: swap inside Tonkeeper (partner exchangers) or BestChange Tether TRC20 → Tether TON.
- Already have GRAM: swap to USDT on a DEX, e.g. STON.fi (same official jetton). That also needs GRAM for gas.
Do not send TRC-20 to a TON address or the reverse — the funds are usually gone.
Pitfalls
- Wrong network is mistake #1. Tether TON ≠ TRC-20.
- P2P scammers. Pay only inside the exchange; never move to private chat. If you paid and the seller stalls, open a dispute, do not cancel: while the order is live the crypto stays in escrow.
- Net amount. Compare what you actually receive after fees and spread, not the advertised rate.
- Gas. A little GRAM on the same address is required or USDT will not send.
- Custodial bots. Even if @wallet shows USDT (TON), keeping a meaningful balance there is a freeze risk.
What's next
USDT on TON in a non-custodial wallet is enough to pay on Catallaxy in one tap. For small buys GRAM is often cheaper; to lock the dollar price, use USDT: GRAM vs USDT.
FAQ
Will USDT TRC-20 work? No. Catallaxy only sees the TON jetton.
How do I check the token is real? In Tonkeeper it should be official Tether, not an unnamed contract. Match the master address with Tether’s docs or Tonviewer.
Do I need a card on Catallaxy? No. The card is only to fund the wallet once.
Can I skip KYC? BestChange exchangers often need no exchange account, but some still ask for documents or a card check. On-ramps and exchanges almost always KYC.
